Chuck Wagon Gathering
What: Join us at the Chisholm Trail Museum for a day filled with cowboy fun at our family friendly event. Drop in and see a variety of working chuck wagons from across the region as they prepare some of their favorite dishes. Activities include live music, cooking demonstrations and food samples, gunfights, Wild West Show performers, and more. Activities run from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

What: In this casual, fun class, participants will learn to care for and cook in cast-iron cookware. Participants will create a Dutch oven delight and participate in a group meal. The class will explore historical and modern recipes while learning how to cook in your own backyard. All materials needed for the class will be provided. This class is restricted to adults and children ages 12 and older. The cost for the class is $40 per person or $60 per pair, and preregistration is required. When: April 26, 2025, 12:00 – 5:00. Then, spread out your favorite blanket or set up a comfy lawn chair and enjoy live music from 7:00 – 8:30 at Horizon Hill, the home of territorial governor A.J. Seay. Each month will feature a unique group of Oklahoma musicians and local food trucks. The event is free and family-friendly. For more information, contact the museum at 405-375-5176.

Basic Barn Quilt Workshop
What: Join us at The Chisholm on June 7 for our Basic Barn Quilt Workshops. Barn quilts, square-shaped boards painted to resemble a quilt block and placed on any structure, have evolved into a rural development initiative to boost tourism in communities. OSU Extension Educator Lindy Hoel will lead this workshop, and each participant will complete their own Barn Quilt to proudly display at home. Please contact the museum at (405) 375-5176 to reserve your place. Lunch is included with registration.

Parlor Jams at Horizon Hill
What: Join us for Parlor Jam, our live acoustic music jam session, on the last Saturday of August, September, and October from 1:00 – 3:00. Wayne Cantwell, the Flyin’ Fiddler, will lead an old-time jam session in the parlors at Horizon Hill, the home of territorial governor A.J. Seay. This program is for musicians of all levels and is a great learning opportunity to sit and play alongside seasoned performers. New players are encouraged to watch, listen, and join in as we play through traditional “old-time” hits. Acoustic instruments only, please. The Chisholm and Kingfisher County 4-H Barn Dance
What: Join The Chisholm and the Kingfisher County 4-H program for a boot-scootin’ good time at our fall Barn Dance. The evening will feature live music by Mackynsie McKedy, dancing, and a chicken fried steak dinner provided by working chuck wagons. Tickets must be purchased in advance, just $25 for adults and $15 for children 13 and under. The proceeds will benefit both the Kingfisher County 4-H programs and the museum! What: Looking for some spooky fun? Drop by from 5:00 to 7:00 for FREE family-friendly trick-or-treating and a child-friendly haunted mansion walk through. Ghouls, ghosts, and costumed children of all ages will receive awesome treats! (We hear there will be full-size candy bars for the first 200 trick-or-treaters!)
When: October 31, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00.
